It's not Dowflake, but a bit better (Not Pedalow either, but still in the DOW family). You use 20% less of it.

4lbs makes about 3.5 gallons which would last about 3 months for my 72 bowfront for daily dosing, and water changes with IO salt. In reality, I use it on several other tanks as well, so it's closer to 1.5 months.

Norman, where did you get yours? Was shipping more than the cost of the stuff? I'm thinking of ordering a 25 pound bag just to have a supply on hand, but I'd feel funky if my $12 bag of stuff ends up costing a fortune for shipping.

Meh, I just went ahead and ordered some from buckeye, the shipping didn't seem to change on larger orders, although I have a feeling they'll send me an updated pricing on the shipping, but a couple dowflakes and a couple of magflakes, I think it's about 8 pounds per order.

Where do you guys order big bag? I might need to order a big bag. I have some friends would like some too. 4lbs from N. will last me about 3 months. Going to need more after that.

google dow flakes, smallest big bag I've found is 25 pounds all the way up to 50 pounds.

I ended up getting mine from Buckeye Field Supply. The only place that did smallish quantities for a decent price.

Other places I was able to find would send big bags, but yep, the price of shipping was something like $40 on a $20 item.
And yet other places looked promising, but they only sold to retailers.
