I would like to try and spawn my clams

Why would you like to do that ?????

Spawning is triggerd by some sort of stress. If you think that you will be able to culture clams in your tank, am sorry but your chances of doing that is about 99.9 against.

Sorry

Thanks , I really didnt know that . I just knew it was part of the reproduction cycle and I have heard of people having their clams spawn so didnt figure it was a problem.

Good to ask question, that how we learn. :)

Tridacnids are hermaphrodites , male and female gonads at the same time. Simultaneous - first the sperm and then the egg. A 20-30 minute delay, this prevents self-fertilization

Very interesting , Maybe you could help me out cause I read that people who do it as a business will actually take some grind them up and then redistribute it back into the water and that causes them to spawn is that really true?

Clam farm often stress the clam (after make sure they are in condition for spawn) by taken them out of water for a durration of time.
In our tank, the egg will get polyspermia, more than one sperm fertilize one egg, and will not develope.

There are several ways to make clams spawn, including an injection with seratonin. They don't have to be stressed, either.

However, as said above, in an aquarium there will be too many sperm, which will end up killing the eggs. It's very, very unlikely that you'd end up with any babies.
