Looking for weed corals (xenia, etc.)

I am looking to add some of the fast growing corals like xenia, anthelia, or star polps to my tank. If anyone is pruning and tossing any of these please let me know. I would like to get some in my tank.

Thanks,
Chris

Boydx6,

Do you want to pick up the xenia and kenya from Shibumi. You could get first pick of it or all of it. I am sure in a month or so you would have some to share. I don't really want to drive to St. Pete.

Shimumi,

Would it work if Boydx6 got it?

Thanks,
Chris

Steve,

The tank is not doing very well. )-: That is kind of why I am wanting to try some fast growing corals.

My tank has a slight cyno issue and the corals do not seem to be growing. I have some soft corals, zoos, and LPS that I am pretty sure have not grown much in over one year. The good thing is nothing is dying, just nothting is thriving. At leasat not the kind of growth I had in my 55 gallon tank.

I am not really having that much time or money (the family unit is growing) to devote to my tank and keep thinking of downsizing. The issue on downsizing is I don't know how small I would need to go to help with time. I was thinking maybe 20 to 30 gallons and I could do just one large water change weekly. No skimmers, no filter sock. Just water changes. I may post another thread to get peoples thoughts on how to set up a tank so I want have to spent lots of time or money.

I will have to plan to come to your house and stop at KillerBee's too. If ou have some spare anthelia and star polyps that would be assume.

Cheers,
Chris

sounds good to me I have a 10, 20L, 20H, 30, 55, 75, and a 90 take your pick :) and how much would you want for the tank?

Killerbee,

Have you clicked on my red house? You can see where I set up the tank so you can see what it looks like. I would want to sell at least the tank, stand, sump, and canopy (with or without the lights). I haven't really thought about a price. If you are serous let me know and I will let you know what I would like for the tank.

Cheers,
Chris

tank looks great. I only need the tank itself, but I understand you would want to sell it as a whole so let me know what price your looking to get for it. Just remember i'm not rich ;) lol.
Terry

Terry,

OK. I will remember you are interested in the tank and if I decide to sell it I will let you know. If I sell the tank, I would probuably want $500 just for the tank, stand/canopy (no lights), and sump. But I am going to hold on to it for a bit. I have just made a few changes to it and want to hold on to it long enough to see if the reef improves or not.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Chris,

I have some xenia and kenya tree you can have. You'll have to come and pull some out of my tank though. I also have some GSP I'd like to prune... Again - you would have to show me how to pull it off the rocks.

To be up front - my tank isn't the cleanest looking thing in town... I think I have too many fish and not enough export ;-) But you're welcome to what I have. I'm in Wesley Chapel at the corner of Bruce B Downs and SR 56.

Let me know if you want to come by this weekend.

Joe

Chris , it is less work to keep ahead of problems with a larger water volume than a smaller one . A larger tank is more stable . (This is a fact ) I am cutting cost on running my tank as well , but going smaller is not the answer . Ted

Joe - It would be great to see you again and to get to see your tank. Pruning corals is not too bad, I can show you. You are close to me so I will have to plan to stop by. I will send a PM.

ReefRubble - Yeah, I know large tanks are more stable, but to me it seems easier to change 50% or the water in a 40 gallon system than my 120. Let's say I just want to change 10 gallons of water a week in a 40 gallon this is 25% of the volume, but in my 120 it is around 8%. Would the weekly 25% water changes not go a long way to help the system stay stable opposed to a larger volume, but only a 8% water change?

Cheers,
Chris

Chris, the water changes are necessary but they will not solve your problem. We need to figure out what the problem is and get it corrected so you can keep the bigger tank. Sorry Terry, for trying to talk him out of the deal. :D

Shubumi - Thanks for the corals that you gave to Boydx6.

Boydx6 - Thanks again for picking up the corals. They are in my tank and hopefully will grow. That SPS branch looks great too. I really like it under the atnics. Now I will see if at least the xenia will grow for me. (-:

Cheers,
Chris
