Hey guys, the Lady wants to start breeding clowns because we had lost our baby clown so she figured she would make another...lool I figured she's delt with my obsession so if I can throw something she likes it would keep her off my case ;) haha

Anyways, I'm curious I have the room and the time to startup something but I don't rely know where to begin. Can anyone shed some info, links, what I'll need, or places to start? I think she wants platinums or those Wyoming whites or whatever they are called. Anyways, any info would be awesome.

Thanks in advance!

Dave

I have 2 tomato clowns and have had them for 7 yrs. They are on there 4th batch of eggs and it took 4 yrs for the first. Im hoping these hatch but chances are slim. They have to be happy and healthy. If conditions stay constant then chances are increased.

They had there 3rd batch 2 months ago but dam electric went out for 4 hours and the eggs dissappeared , then 3 days ago they made some more. Im hoping these hatch.

Its possible but takes time.

Joyce Wilkerson's book "clownfishes" is a great place to start amassing information

I found a used copy online for 20 dollars recently, don't fall prey to the multiple hundred dollar price gouging on amazon that you may see

Also "The Complete Illustrated Breeders Guide to Marine Aquarium Fishes" is a great book.
To help speed up spawning buy a large clown(close to full grown) and a small-medium clown and feed many times daily. Youll need a culture rotifers, either live or preserved microalgae,a black round tub for the newly hatched babies, heater, and a larger tub for growout. It would also help to have an algae scrubber on the broodstock tank and the growout so you won't have any water quality problems.

Good luck with that.

You need some good sized ones to get them in the mood. I'd say over 1 1/2" for starters and you may not see anything within a year. 2"+ pair would be a faster way to parenthood but its still a wait. Setting up for the fry you can read all about that within multiple forums around the web... Google is your friend.
