Looking to buy a Flame Angel

I have the worst luck on keeping these alive. I've obtained 3 in the last 8 months w/ no luck. They look great for a couple of weeks, and then they start getting pale and die. My tank is totally establish and I am keeping livestock that are much more touchy (Tangs, anthias, clowns). They're beautiful fish and I want one. Does anyone have one that they're looking to move?

before getting another one, I would do some research and try to find out why they are dying. 3 in 8 months is too much life lost.

Even though its established, i would criticize everything, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, copper, chlorine

Research on how many time it should eat a day, if you are not feeding it enough that could be the issue.

Temp & salinity

see if that helps out any.

I would wait before risking on killing another fish, when you know that it will probably die.

maybe your buying on impulse and just getting unlucky with the flames you pick. could be your acclimation method. flames are pretty hardy fish but if you get a sick one they can go fast and it's hard to turn around. you've been in it a long time. get back to the basics maybe your just missing something.
good luck.

Great help, guys!! I've boughten all 3 from Exotic...that may be my problem Anyone else have any ideas/suggestions?

Try other shops, Go talk to john at yourreef. Ive gotten alot of fish from him and only lost one. A diamond goby, but they are known to jump and I got a open tank and cats.... Lunch???? Never lost to sickness.

Dont know, but he always treats his fish and QT's any sick fish in another self contained system.

Tell em Edwin Sent ya, John will take care of ya.

??? i buy all my fish at exotic. i purchaced a flame there almost a year ago. now i just traded it in on a potters cause the flamer was pickin at my sps so i figured i would try him out. healthy as can be eating the first day i got him. it's been over a month now and he's still going strong.

I buy all of my fish at exotic also and I have never had problems keeping my fish alive. theres a few things that I make sure to do to make sure that the fish I am taking home will have a great chance of living once acclimated.

It could also be because of the tankmates in your system. I know you've got a lot of large and pugnacious fish. A small Flame Angel would have adapted easier, as one of the first fish. Being a late addition to a tank full of well established territories will make things hard for them:(
