Looking to set up a 465g

I have had a few saltwater tanks in the past couple of years. So some experience but the largest tank i had was 55g

Currently I have a 46g semi circle tank. I love it but i recently bought a house and want a large tank in my living room.

I found someone selling an acrylic tank 120x30x30 for $1500 (only the tank) predrilled overflow in the middle. He said it had a small chip in the bottom corner from when he moved it into his house. Was professionally repaired and never had a leak (2inx2in). He has been using it for over a year

I can build the stand and canopy but am curious if its to large of a tank to put the sump inside the stand?

I would like to have the sump, protein skimmer and everything below the tank in the stand. Was thinking of a 75g or 100g sump.

Also I currently am remodeling the floors in the new house so it will be easy for me to run a water line (like what a fridge has) from my RO/DI to where the tank will be. Thinking this will make it easier to top off the tank.

also is a 500 gallon tank very hard to tank care of, compared to my 46g?

Any thoughts would help. Thanks

A good friend of mine has a slightly larger 600g with a 500g sump below it. He built it off the walls, so he has access to all sides of the tank, and just built cabinetry and doors to get into these areas. It totally can be done. He had the luxury of plumbing his skimmer, frag tanks, reactors, and ro/di to an adjacent room though. It all would be dependent on the size of your sump and whatever else you were going to put down there.

The short answer is YES!!! No comparison. When I went from a 130 to 400 the amount of work and maintenance was huge and for you going from 46 to 500 is huge.
Now that said it will also depend on what you want to keep. Will it be a reef? SPS? Mixed? FOWLR?
Depending on how you answer that question will change the answer to your original question.

+1 you can spend a small fortune on lighting alone for a large tank, same with a skimmer. More money than you probably have in the 46g so just keep that in mind. Make sure you can get it where you want it in the house before you purchase.

Lol. Yes. U will spend, even on the cheap, more on lights and skimmer than your tank cost you....at least
Factor in sump, pump, powerheads, heaters, and of course rock. I bet you'll be 5k deep before even having fish in it(except the existing ones)

I recently went from a 155 to a 240 gallon and it took almost a year of planning and two substantial tax refunds to get lights, pumps, apex, etc. There is nothing like a large tank but the amount of work and money to just get it setup is significant. Once it is up and running the amount of daily or weekly work isn't crazy but you need to really be dedicated to it.. I say go for it!!
