Looking to upgrade my lights...could I keep crocea with...

Korrine

You could get a ticket!!
Could have 260 watt pc's half actinic and half 10k...this would be ideal. I already have reflectors and ballast for it. Just need the bulbs and to put together a hood.

Or should I fork over $200+ for this:

Current Sundial T-5 Canopy Light Fixtures 96 watts of T5?

Not really looking to spend $400+ on a hallide light fixture.

Thoughts please :)

This wouldn't be for a little while. Tank was new this March. I'm just planning right now and know that clams need mature systems.

Thanks :)

I don't know about the pc lights never had them. The t5's on the other hand would do fine imo. That is what I am using and have had two croceas for well over a year under them with no issues. hth

t5. But you can find a MH fixture for a lot less than $400. Clams are a blast, once you get one plan on more.hahahaha.

Don't think I can fit a MH w/my tank. I think it would be more of a PITA. I only have 9.5" to fit any light.

if you go with T5 put them higher up,

when i got mine i put thm in the sand and they opened half way, at night i moved up to a rock toward the top of my tank and in the morning they were opene up fully and looked really nice

Wouldn't 260 watts of PC's be enough?? That's almost 10 wpg and crocea would be up on the rock below the light.

My only info on that is that the 260 watts of PC is much weaker lighting that the output form lets say a 216W of t5's. Not saying it wouldn't be enough, but the 10 watts per gallon or any watts per gallon doesn't really apply. It is more the intensity of the lighting which is needed..
