Newbie Aquarist : Thank you, I hope I can keep it just as clean looking as the build goes on.
So I am going to try something.... new.. At least I have not seen it on any of the build threads I have read over the years. Instead of drilling a hole in the pipe for a siphon brake, I am going to put a flapper check valve but the opposite way. So when the pump is running the check valve will be closed. When the pump stops and there is suction the valve will let air flow. I am going to plumb it so it the valve is over the water. This way if it leaks it will go into the tank. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts?
