Looks like my firefish took a beating

These fish are in a 29 gallon tank?

I missed that part. Not enough space will definitely make the fish more ornery. If you're currently keeping those fish in a 29G, you problems are much, much bigger than how much you feed the tank.

I thought it was odd that you're having nutrient problems with only two pinches of food a day. Makes a little more sense if it's in a 29G.

No this was not in a 29. The 29 has been converted to a freshwater, the firefish was in a 75 bow. The firefish ended up dying regardless of moving it to quarantine. There havent been any other issues in the tank. I believe it was caused by the angel but I'll never know at this point.

Depending how big your pinch is, you may be underfeeding your tank. Reef fishes can put away a surprising amount of food. If your Angels, Tangs and Wrasse are properly fed, their stomachs should be obviously rounded, but not overly so. Definitely not concave like in the picture of your Firefish.

If you found your Firefish beat up immediately after the blackout, I would suspect the aggression was brought on by insufficient feeding.

Both Angel and tang have very round stomachs. Doubt its under feeding. The firefish was always a rock dweller for whatever reason, he was never really out in the open. Never came out for feedings either, I would try to get food to where he mainly hung out but whether he got it or not I couldnt say. My watchman does the same, but lately hes been out more and I see him chasing more food. But again, the watchman doesnt have a concaved belly at all.
