Lost fish

So after my water change today I cannot find my lawnmower blenny, it was in my sump where I remove the water through a 1/2" hose. I searched the water that I took out three times and could not find it. I searched the floor at least six times to no avail. There are five small rocks in the sump, how well can these guys hide? Can they hang on tightly? The return pump was only off for a short time is it possible for one to swim through the pump and into the return line back up to the DT? I checked that line but didn't find it there either but there was no way for me to check the whole line. I even ripped my skimmer apart to see if it swam into there but again found no trace.

Can a mag 9 turn a fish into kibbles? I am completely out of ideas here.:sad2:

Sorry to hear about your loss. I had a six-line go through a mag pump and he came out the other end whole but dead-he got stuck in the fan shaped nozzle on the outbound side of the pump. A blenny how ever is much larger; he could have been turned into kibble. Your guess is as good as mine, at least there're cheap fish to replace.

They can hide very effectively, however I wouldn't hold out too much hope for him unfortunately. I hate to lose a fish and never find out what happened to them...it happens way too often for my tastes.

First fish that I have no idea where it went but it is definitely gone. I checked the floor a few more time and it is not there so my bet is that it was gobbled up by the mag 9.

Lesson learned.

I put a blenny in my sump (actually my refugium), for just one night....and never saw him again. NO predators, no dangers....except my skimmer in another compartment. I never found him......sometimes fish hide in places in a hurry, and they don't consider how dangerous a hole is until its too late........very sad.
