Lost my foxface thinking some wrasses

Well today I had to bury my Foxface Lo. When I bought him I knew I wouldnt have too much time since he had recordedly been in captivity for 5 years with the same person. I did get a good deal knowing it would be a pretty short lived. I had him for just under a year and was not too surprised when he started getting weaker over the past two months(the most recent tank movement probably wore him down.) Before anyone asks all other fish are fine, no elevated levels, no visible parasites. I really wanted a foxface when I started but now that I am always fraging and moving corals around its very nerve wrecking having a fish that can really put you down if you are not careful. So while I am sad to see him go, it will be a lot easier to work in the tank. BTW he was nice and fat at 7" plus.

Moving on I will be looking to add a splash of yellow back to the tank and will probably avoid another Foxface for that reason. Yellow tang is out as I have a PBT in QT that will be going in my tank soon. Also I have a sps, lps, and softie mixed reef so that limits things even more. Two fish I am considering and possibly both area Midas blenny and/or a yellow assessor. I have done homework on both and dont see a problem keeping either in my system. With that said any other suggestions I may have overlooked? tank is a 125, and while I have a couple people ready to adopt the PBT if it doesn't like the tank when it grows id like to avoid having more that one fish with that dilemma.

Also I have no red in my tank so I was looking at maybe a group of McCosker's flasher wrasses. They seem to have a decent bit of yellow on them. however I do have a sixline and even though it has been a model citizen will all fish large and small it sounds like it still wont work. I can move it to my sump and then on to my frag tank when I get it set up no problem though. My biggest worry I can only feed once a day while my lights are on(Leave at 8am home at 5pm, lights are 12pm to 8pm.) I am not a fan of using an auto feeder unless there is one that is pretty reliable and allows small feedings.

Have you also considered pushing back the time your lights come off and on so that they are on longer when you are at home. This way you can feed more frequently when you are home(and get to see your tank more too).

Mckoskers wont do well with only I feeding a day.

I am a big fan of H. chrysus andH. leucoxanthus for yellow fish as well as H. iridis for red and yellow. These fish also will do better with frequent small feedings but will tolerate less frequent feedings than the mckoskers.

I suppose I could try an auto feeder and move my lights back two hours. My dusks don't go off until 9pm as is. Between compatibility and reef safe it really limits what you can do in a tank.

I have a yellow assessor and I hardly ever see that fish. It is a cave dweller and really only comes out when I feed and then it still stays in its small area of the tank. So just consider that on this fish. Good luck.

I have a midas blenny in my 110 gallon reef tank and he is great. Really awesome personality and seems to get along well with everyone.

As far as adding a red fish is concerned, I had trouble keeping mccoskers for same reasons the previous posters mentioned regarding feeding. Have you considered a flame hawkfish? I love mine. They also have awesome personalities and are very different from most other fish.

I second the flame hawk. I also have a longnose hawk in the same tank and both
are always out and very interesting fish. They always seem to be looking back at you when looking at the tank.

Excellent fish, but not shrimp safe.
