Lost my Sebae... New LTA coming.

MyMonkey

Persona Non Grata
Well, after a long hard battle in trying to save my Bleached out sebae anemone, it died last week. It had stopped eating maybe 2 weeks prior. It really never ate well actually. It was bleached and stuck in some grate when I got him. I tried to save it over the past few months but was unable to.

Now, after several water changes I am planning on getting a new Anemone. I have 360 watts of VHO in a 58 Gallon tank. Local reefer is selling LTA's for CHEAP. However, I hear that Ocellaris Clowns are unlikely to host in LTA's. My clowns hosted in the Sebae after a few days and now seem quite lonely swiming near the surface all night.

Any idea if it is simply a chot in the dark with LTA and Ocellaris? Or, is it just a matter of taste with the clown? I want another Anemone and this LTA is a deal and a half compared to a $40 BTA. Any suggestions?

my friend has an ocellaris and a perc that host his huge LTA so i think they will host it but its up to the clowns and the anemone. good luck

My two Ocellaris didn't touch my LTA in over 6 mths on my previous setup. The female brought food to it a couple of times at first, but then fell in love with an green open brain, and of course the male followed suit...

Loved my LTA though. I'll probably end up with another one for my new setup.

What color is your LTA? (not that it makes a difference, but I was just curious)

I picked up the LTA last night. The fellow reefer lives not even a mile away from me in my neighborhood practically. It is a nice green color, rather dark green actually. I was unable to get a pic as I had the lights off. This morning it was twice the size it was in the bag and had nudged itself over to a nice spot.

Also, the clowns took right to the LTA. Woohoo! I hope the nem does well. It was very sticky when going in so it is already in better shape than the Sebae was. Thanks.

Update on the LTA: THis afternoon he is behind the rocks. It seems he slipped between them. I think I am simply supposed to let him find a nice spot. That correct?

It turns out I obtained the LTA from someone with the exact same lights I have in the same size tank. Go figure... Can't wait to go home and see if he has come out from behind the rocks. :) Thanks for the input. I plan on feeding him a little bit of Silverside tonight.

You may want to add a little more sand for the LTA. He will likely find a rock on the sand and wedge his foot under the rock onto the tank bottom. That's what mine likes and he liked it better in deeper sand though his clowns have dug up a lot of sand around him.

Thanks for the advice. I will add a bt more sand around the LTA if I can get to the base. This thing is pretty big and the base is back under some large rocks. Here is a shot. Not a good one just yet.

Don't worry about the sand then. Clone, bubbles, looks...

I'm pretty sure it's a BTA. BTA don't usually set their feet in sand, they prefer cracks between rocks.

Also, the lighting is much more appropriate to a BTA.

He looks really really healthy too BTW. Nice anemone.

Thanks. Turns out he is above the sand anyway. There is no getting to the base just now. BTA, LTA, not sure I care. Nice looking though.

Hey MyMonkey I got one of the same clones from Dustin and its definitly a lta it has a flat oral disk and green with a red/brown foot as you already know...

Yes, I do believe it is an LTA. Green flat disk with red base. Very nice looking and big. Dustin knows his stuff. Odd though, the bubbles on the dad. Thanks KPK.

Yeah they are beautiful, and Dustin does know his stuff. I will agree I did say to Dustin when I picked it up that it looked like a bta, but he said it was an lta for sure.

Amp I was thinking the same thing, but he said during his move or something that they stressed and started splitting. Pretty nice Nem too. Here is a pic of mine see if you can tell any different.
