Slapshot- While I agree that chasing Ph is fruitless, the rest of your statement is flawed. Alk and Ca need to be dosed at same rates.

I don't disagree with what you said at all and I did not say that. Using just Kalk will not always work. Especially in a fast growing sps tank. Believe me I have tried. But, he is not balancing his chemicals he is talking about dosing Kalk to raise his ph. That will lead to high alk levels as the real reason for the low ph will not be fixed. That is my point.

Are you sure you don't have a leak, LOL! Damn, that is crazy. I agree with E in that you should add some Kalk to the topoff. Start with a low dose and go from there. I dose full strength Kalk in my nano and it doesn't even come close to keeping up. I wish I had your evaporation so I could dump more Kalk in there.....well, maybe that's an exaggeration.

As far as Kalk ruining a peristaltic pump, no worries. The liquid does not come in contact with the pump. A regular pump is a different story.
