Loud 6025.

Well I bought 2 6025s. One of them is fairly quiet, the other one is a rattler and nothing I do seems to quiet it down.

Any suggestions?

Is it still new? Seems some of them "break in" after a couple of days and quiet down.

Be sure the impeller shaft is firmly seated. The first round of 6025s ( Nov/Dec 2006 ) was notorious for loose shafts and have to be replaced by Tunze.

Its not about break in... its been in my tank for a few weeks and even the first second it was in the water it was loud. Especially since I bought 2 of them and one of them is clearly louder than the other...

Not just a lil bit louder... MUCH louder.

Can these be returned to tunze for new ones?

First, open it and check that it isn't just some packing debris or very likely just some vaseline from assembly that has gummed up the parts. Very often this solved just be removing the drive unit, wiping the parts down and reassbling it. Pay special attention to the small stainless washer that goes under the drive unit.
