lousy way to start the day

this morning i decided it would be a good day to clean the coraline on y glass....tough task in a 20H full of SPS...

and today i fear it may have been catastrophic....while cleaning i bumped and dislodged the rock my mini carpet anemones where on...well if it werent bad enough, the rock fell to the sand...one the way snapping my green digitata, my orange digitata, and one of my yellow digitatas...it also crushed my neon green monti cap...and the fall would not have been complete with out the green cap landing edge first right into my plate coarl...

so i cursed and what not for a minute while i tried to pick the rock up without crushing any more of the monties...and what do you know i poked my thumb directly into one of the carpets...made him shrivel up super quick...i felt a solid through him so i am pretty sure i punctured a hole in him by squishing him into the rock...and then the other nem on eht rock was also attached to the main rockwork as well as the rock that fell...so he had himself almost ripped in half...i have two pieces of him now...only problem is the one piece is only about a quarter of the original, and the guts etc are hangin out of the bigger half...

i really hope he sucks them back in like he did when he divided himself a little while ago...but right now everything looks so bleak..fragapolooza on the sandbed, guts and nems hangin all over the place, and i am too afraid to put my hand back in, i tried to epoxy the rock back up to where it was and i got stung by a friggin bristle worm, i am not sure the day can get much worse...

maybe i will go to work after all...:(

i know the monties will heal up, but anyone have any insight as to whether or not the portion of the nem and the main part of the nem will make it? or even the nem i squashed with my finger?...

they are so small and so purple it is hard to see them with the tank lights off...i have to clean with the lights off or my clowns rip me a new one...

If the water quality is high, flow is good, then the mini carpets should recover just fine. Likely multiple examples of them.

Best of luck.

well damage report:

the chunk stuck to the other rock has already rounded itself out, and begun to heal up by the looks of it..i cant see the cut anymore...
the main portion of that one had a little more damage then i first saw...it seems to have sucked most of its guts back in and has started to close around on itself...but in doing so is leaving another chunk to be cut off...looks like you say i will have three soon...

the one i squashed doesnt seem to be exhibiting any problems...

but this is all under actinic lights too...so a little tough to make everything out yet...

halide doesn't come on until 12:00 then goes off for about an hour at 3:00 and back on at 4 until 7:00....i had to do something with my lighting cause it was heating the water too much lately..i might even shut them halide off for 2 hours...but i will wait to see how these little guys make out today..

well...

one week to the day it all happened and i now have four mini carpets..all healed up and all with mouths...i may try to start feeding mysis in a couple days...give them a little more time...

i guess it all turned out okay...

:sigh: of relief
