Young Reefer
hey everyone,
i have had a 2in, fat black o clown in my 120 gallon for a couple months now. she had originally had a mate but during qt had a run in with the power head:sad1:. she had always been the female though. i finally got around to getting a second clown. and just introduced him (orange o clown 1 in) after qt yesterday. almost immediately they met each other. there was absolutely no aggression between them at all. I went down stairs today and they're inseparable. they swim around and even host the frogspawn as a pair. My question is i thought they normally took a few months to form a bond with each other even if they were opposite sexes. Why so quick? thanks

Congratulations Michael with your new clownfish couple.

I think it has something to do with temper, personality and the species. But also of the size. I would think that a Ocellaris as it sounds like you added are quiet okay to pair up in the sizes you describe.

But is is cool that you have a orange and B&W oc couple. Post a picture of them, that could be nice.

Have a great weekend

sounds great. ill try to put a picture up soon. yeah i loved both types of oc so i decided to go with both haha. plus i think the babies they produce are amazing and one day ill try to raise them up.

I had almost the exact same experience. I lost my male and eneded up waiting about 6 months before adding another male. She immediately went up to him (spooked him for sure :)) and started the clown dance and slowly swimming all around the tank (not just in one area). It was almost as if she was showing him around the tank :).

Yes, this happens occasionally, I even know someone who intro'd a male and had a clutch of eggs in the next few days. That is pretty rare tho.

haha the sooner the better with eggs. i really want to try my luck with baby raising. plus they make good fish food
