Low on Rotifers 3 DPH- Alternative foods question

Clown Pimp
I am low on rotifers and I am 3 days post hatch. I only managed to get 12 Melanopus fry captured, as the eggs were on the glass and at hatch they did not want to get caught in the fry catcher.

I have about 2.5-3.0 gallons of water in with the fry and I have been able to pull a 10oz cup of water/rotifer daily from the culture. The cup was packed full of rotifers, but today the catch was much less. The fish are doing well and no loses., but I am wondering what options I have until my culture catches back up. When can I start adding flake/crushed NLS pellet?

Thanks

not until at least day 7 according to the breeder's guide by wittenrich, but you could start newly hatched brine shrimp - that only takes about 12 hrs. and you can slow their metabolism by keeping them in the dark (just don't do that too long!)

U can try giving them otohime a1 on the 5 day skip the bbs a friend that's a breeder been doin this for a hot minute , he don't use bbs is Rotifers 5th day he still puts Rotifers but that's when he puts the otohime a1 very fine powder food feels like nestle quik powder. U can try that.

Are you tinting the fry tank green also? On my last batch of fry my rotifers crashed, luckly i had a good bunch already in the fry tank. After keeping it tinted green the rotifers were reproduceing enough to keep up with the fry. 8 days later with no losses, now they are on bbs and otohimeA

Yes, that is what I was doing. I have two clowns left as of today from that batch. They are eating flake today.

Oh I thought the question what can he feed the fry since he was running low on Rotifers , n that what came to my head cus if u feeding Rotifers next step should be the otohime A

You said A1. I say that is too small, and A is what would be the one. You said Otohime, I said TDO, top dressed Otohime, is a better feed. A is not a substitute for Rotifers when talking about clownfish. It's the step after Rotifers, as you said above. The success rate for not using Rotifers is like 0.1%. I'd love for that not to be true, but indeed it is.

Many people speculate there is no actual consumption of A by the clownfish larvae and its really to condition them off live feeds so there will be consumption of B1.
