LPS for Bottom of Tank

I'm trying to decide on an LPS for the bottom of my tank. It would sit in the front near the corner... moderate flow area. I don't want something that will get too huge or be overly aggressive (sweeper tentacles) to nearby zoas, rics, and shrooms. I also want something that will be colorful and interesting.

Ideas I have right now are open brain or elegance.

Any other suggestions or advice?

I have all three of the above-mentioned at or near the bottom, and all are doing well. Might look into a wellsy or trachy, as well.

Fungia do well and my favorite is Slipper corals. Don't see them often but I love them.

Does anyone know if fox or trumpet do well toward the bottom? I'm looking at another ledge in my live rock.

Also learning more about LPS... what's the difference between a trach and a wells brain? Is it just that one is "folded"?

I have my trumpets in the middle. My hammer is at the bottom on the sane bed as is my GSPs.

Any of the above should work, including the trumpet but you'll probably want to glue the trumpet to a rock and set it/bury it in the sand. Trumpets can sometimes be aggressive and they do have sweepers. Fungia gets my vote. My trachys all have a single mouth while my wellso have all had mutiple mouths in addition to the folds.

How about a favia?? They do have some tentacles that extend but not too far..

Duncans dont really seem to bother anyone in my tank and they are on the bottom

My duncans do great on the bottom but are always putting on new heads, could end up needing a lot of space. Tongue or slipper coral gets my vote, they look great even in moderate current, have short tentacles and I don't think they put out sweepers, at least I haven't seen any. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that. Plus their final size is more predictable.

Be careful with the plate they seem to be like china dolls....ive always wanted one but have been to scared to have one..some say they dont live that long

Well that stinks. Hopefully it will do well - fingers crossed! It's scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.

When your plate arrives, feed it. They are voracious eaters. And, in the corner is probably a perfect spot. IME they prefer low light.

The plates are also slow feeders, and need small food like mysis. I would suggest turning off your pumps and target feed the plate, and keep an eye on it to make sure shrimp, snails, and hermits dont steal the food. Good luck!

Well my pink plate arrived yesterday from Blue Zoo. It's in the bottom right corner of the tank. I didn't get it fully aclimated until late in the evening, so just let it be. I did notice this morning before the night lights came on its feeding tentacles were extended - yay! I'll try spot feeding it tonight, and post a pic.

I also got some acans from Reef Pets on eBay... very nice and doing well too.
