yeah, Brett sold his little tower of tanks to steve at Reef Plus. That's okay though b/'c steve has some good prices on livestock and rare types of cool fish

I did go to the petstore on 95th and 59...I am sorry to report that the store is the single most shameful example of a fish store I have ever seen...and I've been to a few. Dead saltwater fish *everywhere* that were moldy and showed dead for a while. Ich on the fish. Someone mentioned $8 frags? Nowhere to be found. All their corals were long in the tooth, and I shudder to thing of the water quality there. Not a single regular buy (grommas, dottybacks, cardinals, tangs)...wait - there was ONE tang. No high end fish. Everything was ...odd. The humane society should drop by for cruelty on the fish and corals...
Petland is interesting - Mike, the former major fish guy, quit a couple of months ago. Joe, the other kid there who knew saltwater and reefs somewhat well, left under "mysterious circumstances" (read: fired, per everyone at the store). No one at the store except for Paul deal with the tanks, and...Paul is usually reclusive in the back. Prices? $90 mushroom rocks, $90 pocillipora, $130 anemones, you get the idea. Very pricey corals, hence the limited traffic, I'd guess. If you want a puppy from Naperville, that's the place to go...for fish and marine stock, there are other places.
Petco Naperville? a couple of dozen clowns, some damsels, one tang, and no corals. None of our favorite supplies either - not pumps, lights, bulbs, corals, softies or else.
So if you want something from Naperville or plainfield in a storefront, your choices are slim...Tropic Aquatics in Lombard, Deep Reef, ROD's! Definately worth the drive. While he may not stock the drygoods you need, chances are you buy what you want from the internet anyway. He will order something or have it in stock if you need it...

glbtrottr- I am seriously ****ed off!! Petfun used to be a cool store with good prices (they did 40% off all fish, the day before they'd get a shipment in), then the management changed and they hired some shady guy (who was stealin' equipment ) to run the saltwater area. From there, the downward spiral began. They fired that guy and now I stopped by about 3-4 weeks ago and the store looked like crap and 90% of the staff is teenagers. I don't know if that's just a coincidence, but I am just stating what I saw. When I was there that day, their main pump went out and they were discussing leaving the tanks (with fish in them) stagnant until the next day. Dee-Dee Dee!!! It's a sorry excuse for a LFS 
I wish Joe was still workin' at Petland. Cool kid. Actually cared about the fish and great customer service. Could you PM me what exactly happened there?
