LPS looking drab, unhappy...

Hope I didn't divert the conversation too much by bringing up the SG issue. I just had a similar situation and 15 gallons of water added to an existing system could throw some things out of whack if things were off between the mix and the display water.

You know, they just look PO'd to me. Not trying to make light of it but the polyps themselves and the color look very good on both. I know you said flow shouldn't be the issue but that's what my euphyllia look like when they are under too much flow or there is some other sudden change. Only other thing you could consider is to grab some PolyFilter pad and see what color the pad turns after a few hours/day. Possible something that shouldn't have got into your tank? maybe a cleaning product or some air freshener? Burning scented candles near the tank? I would think your other corals would be in the same boat though if that were the issue. This may have been asked before but is the tank temp where it needs to be?

Man leave those carbon bags alone and get you a reactor and a small eheim pump. Got use to do the bags and never saw a differance. BRS has a great reactor that comes with everything but a pump. They reccomend a maxi jet 1200. I bought one and it was loud so I change out to an eheim 1000. I also had to buy a push connector from lowes. 3/8-1/2 inch to work with BRS reactor, http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/reactors/gfo-and-carbon-reactors

And I think your corals look good but I must say when my FS and trumpet got to much flow thats how they looked. And now this is how they look

How many time an hour is your tank turn over? I just recently bought a new tank, same size. But my FS and Trumpets along with others never seemed open. With this new tank I only put two power heads in not the four I had. Man my corals look 100 times better. I've still got good flow. My eheim 1262 turns the tank about 7.5 times. Also I've got two koralias that are maybe 750gph. Thats more than enough for my 180 gallon. I think this is on the upper end or normal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think you want your tank turn over to be 4 or 5 times your water volume.

Frogspawn and Hammer continue to decline. The frog is probably not going to make it. It's started bleaching and the tissue is really receding. All of the parameters are still spot on and I'm pretty much letting this stuff pass on. If I had more time and I was more prepared for my current life situation (my son came two weeks early, everything is good health wise just not quite prepared.) I would continue changing and pressing until I figured out exactly what the problem is but I just don't have the time right now.

I'm not going to break down the tank or anything but there are going to be some changes. I'm going to give my Candy cane, Trumpets and Hammer to my brother - if they survive that is. The frog I'm fairly sure won't survive transportation. Hopefully I can keep my tank stable and one day I can get my Hammer back.... It just kills me that the frog is going down so quickly. It was one of my first corals and my gut just twists think about losing it but my priorities have really changed. I'm not going to be adding anything anytime soon and my zoas are really going great. The LTA is doing awesome and so are all of the fish. I'm just going to maintain and let flourish what does, what doesn't I'll sell or give away...

Thank you all for your help guys. :)

Sorry about the FS but congrats on the newborn! I'm sure you'll get it figured out soon (the tank that is,...you'll never figure out your children :))

I left things a bit unfinished so I thought I'd update. I gave the Frogspawn, Hammer, Candy cane and Trumpet to my little brother. Miraculously they survived transportation and are doing well today.

I'm almost a bit irritated though - My brother (baby brother) is not nearly as dedicated to his tank as I am to mine. I have loaned him test kits (given to him really, since he still has them) but he never uses them. He has a cyanobacteria problem, and has fish in and out of the tank (can't keep them alive). I know he has a nitrate issue and probably a phosphate but the rest I can only guess at as he has never tested for any other parameters... and here the Frog, Hammer, and other corals are thriving in his tank where they seemed doomed in mine... I mean don't get me wrong, I am happy that they are alive and that I may get them back at some point, but it's just frustrating the amount of time and research I put into bringing them back when they were declining... and my brother forgets what I even gave him and they are nearing their normal size in his 'care'...

I guess that turned out to be more of a vent than an update. lol.
