Hi dudes

Are there any butterfly experts/addicts in here? I want to add a butterfly into my tank but it should be reefsafe and not eat my corals/polyps.

I want to add one or a pair into my 170g tank.

Do you have some good ideas? I dont want a Copperband.

thanks for any answer :)

Try piramid butterfly fish, they do well in pairs or small groups and eat mostly plankton not coral polyps.

What kind of LPS?

Raccoon butterflyfish (Chaetodon lunula) are safe with SPS, but it depends on the LPS.

Those should be fine. Chaetodon ulietensis is another option.

Chalices should be fine with them, but meaty stuff like open brains and micromussas I'd stay away from.

I know you said no CBB, but the Muelleri CBB is much hardier than the common CBB.

They readily eat any fresh seafood......calms,mussels,shrimp,scallops all available cheap at your grocery store and they'll also eat some frozen foods like Formula 1&2.

Mine hasn't touched a thing in 10 years........Sps,zoas, anemone, euphyllias, acans,lobos,chalices, ect.

They are also unique in that they aren't a commonly available BF.

Best of all..............aptasia eating machines.
