LTA Ques

I was wondering do LTAS like alot of flow currently i have it in a very low flow area but am wondering if maybe it needs more flow since its not feeding yet

IME with LTA's they normaly like lower flow areas. I presently have one that doesn't even like high light!

i noticed mine doesnt like high light so far i hav ea par meter and found that its almost shading itself.

Shipping is very hard on these guys, very little light, holding tanks that contain poor water quality, inadequate lighting, and who knows what other types of critters releasing chemicals into the water. They do require a mture stable environment, high light, prefer lower flow, and a deep sandy substrate in which to bury their foot. Inadequate light can be compensated for with food short term. Damage to the foot is almost always detrimental so good inspection of the foot is important whenever purchasing one, also if the mouth is gaping thats a very bed sign. The tentacles should be sticky, and it should accept food, this should be checked while at the LFS if it doesnt eat walk away.

I've had mine for 3+ months now, it prefers shaded areas and will go there no matter what I do. eats well. strange LTA to say the least. I've owned a few over the years.

My LTA was very sensitive, and didn't like high flow or strong light.
I made a shallow cave area so it could stretch for light as it pleased.

well i removed the other anems from the tank last night and attempted to feed th LTA again today it is now eating so im pretty happy that my nice LTA is eating

Yours is most likely a different species than the one pictured. Hard without a pic but from the description I would guess H. crispa, both are commonly refered to as long tentacle anemone's, but have slightly different requirements.

I've had my LTA from July, 2008, to now and he's doing great. I've got him in a 55 gallon aquarium underneath 4 96 watt compact fluorescents (not what I'd consider low light at all) and he is midway in the center of the tank under medium flow. The flow goes across the top of his tentacles and not under the body, so he lays flat with tentacles out. He has gone from 2" to 10" and he is growing, and thriving very well and is a nice green color. He eats 2 times weekly. I really hope this helps you out.

You may have alot of watts, but those are PC's
Strong light would be more like MH's in the 250-400w range.
I had 24"d tank w/ 150w MH and T5's, and my LTA would shade itself under rock ledge, in contrast to my Sebae which seemed like it would take all the light it could get.

Here's a couple pics showing how I accomidated both.
In second pic you can see how the LTA shades itself.
That sebae actually stretches out all the way to surface for as much light as possible.

I'd probably categorize the lighting in my tank as moderate lighting.

I don't want to hijack this thread with a question of my own, so I'll post it in the main right now, but thanks for sharing your photos.

Your anemone are very beautiful.
