Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse Harem (and others)

Awesome info guys. So if you have a group of Lubbock's and they are all male, one won't turn female?

Think I'm going to pull the trigger on a trio tomorrow. :)

no if they are all male they most likely will kill each other until there is one left..you need to either get all females or a male and two females...females can tun into male

Looking at that picture in the first post, is that female or male? Doesn't say on the site that there's a choice. I'd hate to get 3 males and have them fight to last man standing.

After seeing the pictures here i know I've 2 males, both hang out in opposit end of the 4 ft tank. the good thing is both are eating pellets this morning abd swimming more in the open after only getting them for 4 days.

the pic in your first post is a male..the females are all pink/re/orange color with a white color on the ventral (bottom) side and has a black dot at the cadual peduncle (near the tail) the pic on my frist post shows a female
Flameangle i am suprised that in that tank they have not duked it out..but i say give it time..it is not a good idea to house more than one male fairy wrasse of the same species ..you are asking for trouble..hope it works out for you but it is not a good practice to do

Thanks for the info. I guess it's live & learn. Most fairy wrasses I see for sale are females unless noted. In this case they were less than $20 each and not knowing that out there are mostly males. The tank is 4'x2'x2' with about 150lbs of rocks so there's plenty of caves for them to seek shelter. Only time will tell at this point.
