Lumen Max Elite mounting height?

How high above the surface of the water do you mount the Lumen Max Elite?

I need to cover a 24x24 area and will be using 400w so I am trying to eliminate the hot spot. I also have 14.5" from the surface of the water to the top of the canopy.

Thanks

I would start out using the canopy mount that comes with the fixture. Then if it looks like you need to lower it you can use the eye bolts that come with it.

I have mine about 10" off the surface... If I had the room I'd raised them 2-4"... Hope this helps... ;)

Is that from the bulb to the surface of the water or from the surface of the water to the top of the canopy?

Do you notice any hot spots?

Thanks for the help.

Bulb surface... These reflectors focus the light a lot more than my lumenarcs... I have shadows on the edges of my tank that weren't there with the LA's... But directly underneath the LE's is a lot brighter than it was with the LA's...

How much room do you have from the surface of the water to the top of the canopy?

I mounted my lumenmaxes to the top of my canopy using 6" ss bolts instead of the eye bolts. Now with a wing nut and washer I can adjust them pretty easily up and down. If the bolts are sticking up to much when you decide on your final height you can buy some shorter ones...
