I have these reflecetors when they first came out and loved them due to the 95% reflective surface and the concentration of PAR. What I didn't know is combining new radiums and lumenbrights is a potent combination to burn corals! With new Radiums I read individuals would raise their fixture until they were broken in. And by reading this link:
***If you don't want to read the whole link. This basically sums it up:
"This whole concept inspired me to test one particular tank to compare the difference between a large LumenArc 3 reflector and a large LumenBright. At the time everyone was convinced that the difference was negligible and due to the supposable lack of spread of a LumenBright, the LumenArc 3 would be on top as you move further away from the bulb. It was evident to us that the LumenBright clearly outperformed the LumenArc in all distances from the bulb."***

Lumenbrights made the matters worst due the the light concentration. I have my fixture only 6-8 inches from the surface, so I'm atleast another 8inches off from the recommended height. I love these reflectors and was about to get lumenarcs after discussing this with Mike. But after reading the article, the numbers posted from Sanjay, Or even the use of 175 bulbs with these reflectors all I had to do was raise the fixtures. =)
