luminarc stealth

I was looking at the luminarc stealth DE 250 retro kits and was wondering if anybody is using these and if heat is a problem with them as they don't appear to have any vents? Would the SE 250 be any better. Just looking for ideas.

Thanks

Im running one on my 60 cube, no real heat issues at all. I did place it on an aluminum rack so it gets good airflow from all sides.

Hey coralfreak, that likes very nice. Are you running it on electronic or coil and core? I have been reading the metal halide thread and am still not sure which is best.

I'm using an Icecap for the halide. They both have advantages and disadvantages just like about everything else in this crazy hobby:) I went with the Icecap to cut back on power usage, but it also cuts back the PPFD of the bulb.

I like my stealth reflectors, and I also use the Ice Cap MH electronic ballasts. I have two small computer fans blowing over them but don't really have any heat issues. I've got 14k phoenix in 250w on 30" deep tank and all my critters look healthy and happy.

Do you guys think I should go with 2 x 250 watts or 3 x 250 watts for a 180 gal (72"x24"x24") tank? decisions, decisions.

That's kind of what I was thinking but didn't know if maybe I could get by w/2x250 MH if I suplemented w/100 watts of T5.

Thanks for the input.
