Lunar Phases

I have a question about the Lunar Phases mode. Does this mode:

-only adjust the intensity, night by night, of the lunar light during the period that is set...(If I have lunar points from 10PM-8AM, will the moon stay up the entire 12 hours at whatever intensity is programmed by the Lunar Phases mode)

or

-Will it actually have moon rise and moon set based on the time of night and your location...(If I have lunar points from 10PM-8AM and the real moon sets in the sky at 3AM will my lunar lights turn off at 3AM)?

If it only adjusts the intensity, how long do people set their lunar phase for? Thanks!

ddrueckh,

The Radion will mimic the moon in that they will stimulate the progress from new to full moon and back. Each night your lunar lights will be slightly different and will run during your designated lunar points.

Alex,

The official Ecotech manual is extremely lacking regarding explanation of the lunar phase associated set points, etc.

More frustrating than the thinly worded explanation in the user manual, is the fact that answers here are as thinly worded with no more information than is provided in the manual.

Can we not just get a detailed explanation of how the functionality works? Is the light output relative to the set point? That is, is a full moon 100% of the set point intensity and other phases a lesser percentage? Is it a true synodic cycle based on the actual date, or is it just a 28 day ramp up to, and down from some set point?

I can answer the second part of that question as I had mine operating in Lunar Phase for like 6 months and made some fairly careful observations.
They do seem to follow the moon cycle for my geographical location pretty closely.

I'm looking to see what the minimum intensity setting for moonlight is and still get the full effect of the lunar phase.

IMHO, the lunar phase is probably based on the intensity of what phase the moon is in rather then you setting the brightness.

Full moon = ##% brightness
Half moon = ##%/2 brightness

Im also still waiting for more explanation of the lunar cycles. What should the night time % be for realistic effects of lunar cycles? I currently have UV at 15% / Royal Blue at 50% / Blue at 50% / Intensity at 10%. will this work for lunar cycles?

So, the lunar lights will be on for the same number of hours each night regardless of the moon's current phase, but the intensity of those lunar lights change nightly....is that right?

I noticed my lunar lights have been really bright the last three nights...I guess because we just had a full moon?

that would be my guess tjdouglas, but its just a guess since we cant get any actual answers about the lunar cycles from Ecotech.

I have two tanks and lunar cycle enabled on both, on one tank it says 8 days until a new moon and on the other tank it says 4 days until a new moon. How do you get them in sync so they're both on the same lunar cycle?

You can enable lunar phases with any amount of Radions.

Alex,

Excuse my forwardness... but in this and several other threads, numerous relevant questions are either flat out ignored or answered with vagaries.

Many of us are still looking for answers to the questions above. Honestly, can we just get an concise explanation of the functionality?
