The fishroom doesn't have to be sealed that tightly. Why not secure some felt behind the doors to avoid light bleed into the living space? Felt is cheap and easily replaced as it degrades.
I'll check for the caps next time I'm at Lowes.
Black weather stripping will be an option. We are trimming around the tank so we can hide it pretty easily.
I didn't know if it had to be sealed that tightly. I'll grab some scrap 15# roofing felt from my buddy and tac it around the edges of the doors. Good call on the felt I wouldn't have thought of that. I'll use that so I don't have to worry about shimming out the doors. Too bad I bought two $5 rolls of white rubber weather stripping. Now I'm not gonna use them
