lymphocytosis

I have a Harlequin Tusk in QT for 6 weeks. Did two treatments of Prazi and one treatment seven day treatment of Quinine Sulfate - not at the same time. I saw no signs of parasites or ich. However, this week I did notice what looked like lymphocytosis at the edge of his tail.

I have read just let it run its course and keep water quality as best as you can. So this afternoon I decided to put the tusk in my 150 FOWLR which has been up for around 5 years.

Well, I am second guessing now. Will the lymphocytosis infect the other fish? Other fish include porc puffer, red breasted wrasse, V. Lion Fish, and snowflake eel.

Options are leave it be or take him out (if I can get him out easily).

thanks,

Mike

I had 2 fish with lymphocystis, a sailfin tang, and lyre tail anthia. Both were in my DT with other fish. I think the lyre tail got it from the sailfin, but none others got it. It took about 2 months for it to run its course, the sailfin has no residual scaring or marks. The lyre tail does have marks/holes from it. Otherwise fish are happy and healthy now

Lymphocystis usually goes away on its own with no treatment in healthy fish IME. It commonly shows up in the thin tissues of the fins in newly collected fish.

I was under the impression that lympo was not contagious. Every time I've had a fish with it, it presented as white tufts on the edges of the fins. Never spread to another fish, though, and good water and feeding conditions generally eliminated any symptoms. Had a Venustus angel with it recently, and it took about a month to go away.

from what i understand, it's contagious but that being said, it doesn't usually spread. my kole tang had it while in qt. i soaked his food in selcon/vita-chem. he had one small spot of it on his tail fin when i moved him to my dt but that was gone in a few days and no other fish ever came down with it.
