having a very hard time finding an online source for Indo Lyretail anthias. I really want a purple male so they must be indo, not fiji or maldives. Let me know if you know of an online supplier
thanks!

So Fiji and Indo are not the same? Fiji is more red...are you sure that isn't camera/lighting? Have you searched images online specifying location?

Are you sure its not just a maturity thing. Ive seen shipments come in with 2 red males and one purple and the larger fish has always been the more puple looking one. The purple ones also seem to be more dominant with the females.

haha you tell me, peter, you are the expert!

I've just been told that indonesia are the solid purple ones and fiji are more red

I certainly could be wrong though

Penny Harkins, the owner of AquaCorals.com gets them in all the time. I just bought a male and female pair last week and another group of 4 females the other day. The male is a deep pinky purple color. I help her with the store once a week for maintenance and unpacking livestock shipments when they come in. The male lyretail anthias she gets have been consistently a real deep fuchsia color and females consistently a real nice peachy orange color. Her price is a bit higher than some places but the quality usually makes up for it. Oh and her's come in from indonesia and fiji most of the time and the dominant males are the same color. Maldives are different though.

The problem is at the wholesalers. I've been to several. The anthias get mixed up pretty good. Just because a female is listed as being from a certain location, doesn't me she is, and certainly doesn't mean an accompanying male is, unfortunately.

I'd suggest contacting Kevin Kohen at LA and just simply asking which you should order, explaining what you are looking for.

Good idea, i had contacted LA general customer service and they did not give any helpful info @ all. "the specimen pictured is just a representative..." blah blah blah. Kevin may be more helpful
