Lyretail Anthius changing sex?

I bought 3 LT Anthius' a while back. a male and 2 females. The male didn't make it more than a month. Now the bigger female is starting to change color. It's getting a little duller and the tail is getting longer. There is a spot forming on the front fins too.

Anybody know if this is what is happening or if I bought 2 males on accident?

She is becomng a he. Is "she" getting the dorsal spike too? The color change and spots on the pectoral fins are a give away.

I have a pair. One is more than half way to male. Been that way since I bought the pair from someone shutting down their tank about a year ago. Just won't finish the transition.

Yet I've seen others post that theirs has changed very quickly and has a beautiful red male LT.

I don't know why some change fast and some change slowly. I've thought of adding one or two more females to see if it stimulates the change. But I just haven't been up to hunting down the right females and qt'ing

I took a real close look this morning. Definitely male. Dorsal spike, trace of blue on edges of all fins, dark spots on the pectoral? fin. The purple 'eye shadow' is gone too.

my male has been changing for almost 2 years now, but but I guess half and half aint bad ether!

Diffinitely changing on you. My lyretail male stopped short of the red when I put in a male squareback who now seems to be the dominant anthius in the tank.

I purchased 3 females a couple years ago...One started to become the male, elongated fins, dorsal spike, etc... However, it stopped before it changed colors. I added another female to try to trigger it...nothing...another female...nothing....Now I have four very pretty females and a sub-male.... grrr... wish it would just change already.
