Lysmata Molt or Pistol Shrimp Mischief ?

Can anyone tell me how to make for sure that a molt is just that and not the dead animal? I have been waiting for the shrimp to molt as she is new to the aquarium, and have a 1 inch that hangs around her newly arrived. She had been acting like she was going to molt and as of 2 AM last night...had not and was still alive.

I suspect my Tiger Pistol Shrimp and am afraid he will go after the small one also. I cannot find the body of the one that did/did not molt anywhere. Tried to check the Pistol's burrow to no avail...can't find him or his burrow...just his Goby.

The molt looks like it has more that just skin on it.

pick it up, if it collapses (because it is empty) it could be a molt, if there is any form to it there is flesh in the shell and it is a dead shrimp.

I suspected my Peppermint was going to molt. Was gone for 2-3 days. Then last night I saw him moving around in back.
Prior to this only by a day or so I had a Six Line go missing. Still no sign of him. I thought whatever got him got the shrimp too but apparenty not.
I only have a 30g. In 75g I would think things would seem gone quite often.
