M-Six Hundred's 34 Gallon Solana Build Thread

m-six hundred

The Most Diabolical Hater
I guess I'm back in... I purchased a 34 gallon Solana 3 sided super bright tank a week ago.

I decided that the light was just not going to cut it. I like where it positioned but I wanted to add a sump, skimmer and phosban reactors. I ended up drilling the tank. I purchased a glass-holes Super Nano con Dientes Overflow Box and a return. I am going to match it up with a Sicce 1.5 or 2.0 return pump.

I'm painting the back black so you cannot see the plumbing.

And I am matching it up with this stand. I got the idea from another Nano build. I purchased it from Ikea for $69 and I am going to reinforce it with 1"x6"'s on the inside for support.

I also purchased a Bubble Magus 3.5 and an AI SOL Blue.

Tomorrow after the paint dries, I will bring the tank in. Set the over flow and return. Reinforce the stand and drill some holes for plumbing. I will post more pictures tomorrow of my progress.

Hahaha well I couldn't say it publicly cause I'd spoil the thread! But I'm surprised it took you a week to post it!!

The drilling just went down tonight. It took me an hour! I am using Arag Alive Indo Pacific Black/White sand like at RC. I do not know if I should Keep the 1.5 inches that I have or make it 3 inches deep. Its larger grain sand, I think I will have to vac it.

Better pic of tank on stand. The bulk heads and overflow box are not installed yet. Waiting for the paint to fully cure.

Looks good. Have you already reinforced the stand? If so will you post a picture? I would like to see how you did it.

I used 1"x6" pieces of wood. I used my finishing nail gun and tacked them in from the top, bottom and sides. The stand by its self is very sturdy, with these braces I will not have to worry about it at all.

The pictures do not show but I have drilled three 3 1/2" holes across the back top. One on each side to allow the drain and return hoses to come in and out. The center hole is for an exhaust fan.

And it has water in it! I am using 1/2" conduit for the arms to hang the AI SOL from. They will be painted flat black and will also have caps on the ends to cover the holes in the pipe. The water level is 1" below the rim.

Right now the water just dumps into the sump. The 1" PVC pipe fits into one end of the bulk head on the sump but does not fit into the other side. Any one know why? It is about 1 mm off

Picture of the back. I am using a 3.25" Eco Pro fan to remove moisture from the stand.

The overflow and pump are really quiet.
