M-Six Hundred's 34 Gallon Solana Build Thread

Thanks for all the kind words you guys!

Here is a picture of the stand with the hanging light mount painted black. I really like it and it probably cost less than $10 to make.

Picture of the sump finished. The down pipe I set up is completely silent.

Side picture of the light and over flow box/return. I'm still looking for an MP10

I did not have allot of rock to work with but I think it came out nice.

The finished product. I will probably make a screen for the top.

Very nice!! Great set up! Can you tell me a little about the down pipe set up in the sump? I have a straight piece of PVC draining the water into the sump. It's quiet but I get a lot of bubbles and salt spray from the water splashing up.

Thanks!

I finally got a chance to check out the thread. I really like it Mark! REALLY REALLY like it! I want to see it filled with lots of colorful coral! :D

Thanks you guys.

The screen top is done!

It gives the tank a kinda cool white rim look. Now I should have no jumpers.

Great job.I will be getting my solana 34 sometime this weekend. How do you like BM skimmer. Was thinking of getting the 3.5 also.

Everything is so neat and clean! Looks like you did a detailed job. Please explain the your construction of the 'quiet' intake pipe going into the sump. I could use some sleep at night soon! Again, thanks for sharing your build - great job!

I love it !! So nice and so clean and sharp looking. I wish I was more handy like you. You did some perfect work on that system I think.

I'm not the best at describing how it works but, water travels down to the elbow and over to the "T". Allot of the bubbles and back pressure flows back up the "T" allowing the water flow out the bottom of the "T" at its own speed without making allot of bubbling, popping and gargling noise. It is allot quieter than just having the pipe go directly into the water. Now if you are slamming 700-900 gph I do not know if this style will work. I just know I made mine quiet.

Looks really nice.

What return pump did you decide to go with?

I ended up with the Sicce 2.0. My overflow box drain is 1" rated for 400pgh. I figure I am pusing 350gph through it.

Do you get a lot of air bubbles in your dt?
I would add a third baffle to your sump to help minimize air bubbles. Everything else looks really nice! Good job on the build.

None, I think the sponge takes care of that. Now I am thinking about removing the sponge to allow critters to pass through the sump. Then we will see if I have bubbles in the DT.

Your screen top with the white trim was a great choice. The tank gets highlighted between the white stand and white screen trim. Looks good.

Beautiful setup! I will have to consult you when I finally set one up for seahorses that my wife has been asking for.
