I've got to think it takes thousands of volunteer hours with multiple individuals being dedicated to the effort over the course of a full year to pull off a MACNA type of event. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that our club has that type of manpower available.
We've never tried. It would take a lot of money, lots of volunteers and lots of effort. I'm not sure our club is large enough to come close to pulling it off either. Besides bragging rights, what would we gain by hosting.

Our Club has hosted 3 MACNA's it takes a couple of years of constant work to get it done. It is alot easier now that MACNA has been going for so many years but it is quite a big job. I plan on hosting one in the future again but have to be prepared to do so. It takes a core group of people that you can count on taking care of the various jobs. Is it worth it yes. If you have never been to a MACNA go some time and find out how great it is to meet hobbyist's that are really into their hobby and what a blast it is to me someone you have read about their work and now can sit in the bar and hear them tell you their tales. I having been to 12 MANCA's I never get out of the hotel it could be held in any city. I could care less if there is an Aquarium there unless you have the banquet their and last years banquet had several thousand people so I doubt a public aquarium would have a space for that many people.
