thanks sonny, i knew you'd explain it better than i could!

sonny, do you dose AA daily or weekly? i've been dosing 1ml a week and wondered if spreading it out daily would be better.

Well, I need to order some Zeo HCAA's as I only have Reef Booster at the moment and you can dose it daily because it comes in a vial. When I do get the new AA's I will be dosing daily or every other day depending on my observations.

thanks reefer08, that makes sense and i'll start dosing a drop a day now.

thanks for the kind words agsansoo and elijaher, i appreciate it.

sonny, why not brightwells AA since you're already using their MB7? it comes with an eye dropper so its easy to dose daily. i bought some when i ordered the MB7.... can't say whether its good, bad or indifferant as i've never used AA before.

Wow. You've done the double. Two really impressive aquascapes in one thread. And this one looks more achievable somehow for my own future tank. Also making lots of mental notes on this vodka/bacteria dosing lark for when I start. Thanks again!

thanks ape. even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then! it took me years to realize less is best with rockwork. i love the open look and it gives so much more room for growth. i have to thank all the many great examples at the site that opened my eyes to a simpler, more open aquascape.

i was playing around with the camera today (i'll learn to use this thing properly one of these days!) and thought i'd share some differant perspectives of the tank. i also removed another four corals from the tank...i'm going backwards!..lol.

Very nice! Ill take one of each please! :D

+1. I have been following your tank and have been meaning to post. You have a really nice mix of corals and colors. I recently started using MB7 and vodka after seeing what it is doing for your tank as well as SunnyX.

Have either of you noticed any of your fish showing any negative effects to the dosing? My blue tang seems a little jumpy/nervous lately and the only thing I am doing differently is the vodka and MB7.

thanks ento. i probably wouldn't have gone the MB7/vodka route if not for seeing sonnys tank. as for it effecting the fish at all, i haven't seen negative effects. i have a purple tang and other than being a bit obnoxious, it's fine. i have a mystery and leopard wrasse and they aren't jumpy at all....thankfully!!!

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it isn't related to the vodka at all?? So far everything is looking good otherwise.

maybe they need more vodka to soothe their nerves. why not? it works for me!....lol

i can see it now...reef martini's. vodka and olives (the olives providing a differant carbon source somehow, are they soaked in vinegar?). i could be onto something here!

coralline algae on the rocks? yet another reef drink...lol.

mine started on the rocks and now it's everywhere. i wish i had known i was going to keep the glass coralline algae free before i did the rockwork. what a pain it is cleaning the back glass!

btw taylor.... i have you to thank for re-doing my rockwork. yours and sunnys (along with others) inspired me to go with a much more open look. my next tank will similar in size to yours, 48x36x20 ( i keep copying you..lol) but mine will be a pennisula tank (viewed from both long sides and one end) and i'll have much more space to work with then...yeah!

Cool I am stoked to be an inspiration for such a nice tank. That new tank in your mind is going to be intense!

i messed up..... the next tank will be 60x36x20. that will give me lots of room to create islands like you have. love to zoa island.

i still havent decided if i'll go with t-5's or 400w radiums, but i have until at least fall to decide.

What mh ballast are you using and how high up are your reflectors? Do you do anything for actinics?

Nice tank!
