Lookin good man, so how much are you feeding your tank, are you feeding your corals or just the fish or a mix. Anything else special you dose to your tank, great work, and awsome colors.

WOW, those last few corals are sweeeeeet!

Did you place a powerhead in your sump yet?

i am going to try using the quote thing here.....hopefully i do it right.

thanks deja vu. i realize much of the rockwork will be covered by corals in the future, but i can enjoy it until then.

thanks. at this point i am dosing vodka at 1.8ml/day, microbacter 7 at 3 drops/day and amino acid at 1ml/week. i feed i capful of rotifeast per day and feed the fish 5-7 times day with frozen foods.

thanks sonny. a couple corals are maricultured and brownish, but i see some color emerging and have high hopes for them. i place a hydor 4 in my sump the very day you mentioned it! i also put my return from the chiller into the sump area with live rock also.

thanks! i appreciate all the input. now if i can just get all the coral colors i see in so many of your tanks!

i guess dragging the "quote" icon onto my reply isnt right..... how do you copy quotes onto a reply? thanks

lets see if i finally figured this out.

now that i finally figured the quote thing out... here are a couple of pics with just t-5's on. i only have two cheap current usa fixtures with a geisemann actinic and a current daylight in each. i only have them on two hours before and after the halides to extend my viewing time of the tank.

thanks ape....my tank has changed quite a bit now. less corals and rock and more open space. i hated getting rid of the corals, but i like the look better.

I like the new look of your tank a lot more! It will give you room to grow out some large colonies. Did you get rid of all your colorful zoas? How are you liking the vodka dosing?

As much as I liked dosing vodka in my tank (my water got really clean!!), the idea of dosing only a singular strain of bacteria wasn't too appealing, im dosing zeobak now which is multiple strains of bacteria. Im thinking my sps are liking the zeo now a lot more.

i kept most of the zoo's, they are primarily on the left side of the tank and don't show up well in the pics. i need to take better pics of them.

correct me if i am wrong, but isnt vodka a food source for bacteria and not the bacteria itself? i am following sunnyx's example and dosing brightwells microbacter 7 along with the vodka. the MB7 is a source of multiple bacterias and the vodka is a food source for growing larger populations of bacteria. i am not familiar with zeobak, maybe it provides both a carbon source and bacteria strains. i am having good success with the vodka.... crystal clear water, no nuissance algae and some of my brown corals are starting to color up again. good luck with the zeobak and keep us posted on your results.

Hello :D

Well, concerning the vodka additions, the vodka is the carbon source that feeds the bacteria. It is true that over time, bacteria that favors vodka can become the dominate strain. This is the reason why we dose MB7 so that we can maintain a healthy variety of bacteria.

With the Zeobak you are currently dosing you will need to use Zeofood 7 in order to feed the bacteria and recive the full effect of the system. Zeofood 7 from what I have read is comparable to vodka but milder.

If Zeo was cheaper and more readily available locally I would be using it but vodka is much cheaper and does as good as a job. The more money I save on additives the more corals I can buy. :D

thanks sonny, i knew you'd explain it better than i could!

sonny, do you dose AA daily or weekly? i've been dosing 1ml a week and wondered if spreading it out daily would be better.

Good explanation Sunny. Yes im dosing the zeofood7. I also wish that zeo was cheaper but with only around 80g water volume the smallest bottles last me a long time or until they expire.

Do you plan on adding the brightwell zeostones (i think thats why call it for brightwell?) for mulm food for the corals?

daily for sure man! Its food for the corals. Its like feeding your fish a ton once a week or everyday a lil bit.
