Macro-Algae with miracle mud substrate

I know i know, this debate has been going on for a while, but before i do it i want to hear the pros and cons. Here's the deal . The main reef tank a 100G will be toped by a 80G split biotope tank that will contain the mud for its Macro-Algae and its inhabitants, Seahorses crabs, Shrimps and in the other section Anglers and Scorpios. Now the medium to slow flow will take the nutrient and pods to the main tank for feeding and the main tank is being processed with a oversized skimmer the whole thing is run with a loop system. So my reason for the mud is basically its a better substrates for my Algae, i've tryed it before with only sand and lots of them just flow aways, too light and the current takes them. Roots takes much better in mud. Unless you think the mud is detrimental to a system. So what say you? And Why....
