has any one tried the 105mm F2.8 EX DG Macro, or any other macro lense if so let me know what your preference is and post a coral pic by the lense if you can..would be appreciated as I am shopping for A lense with A proven track record . I currently have 3 different canon dslr bodies my latest being the 7d. and not one macro lense lol .

I have the Canon 50mm f/2.5 macro lens. I love the photos I get from it, however I wish I had the 100mm. I don't have any coral pics since my tank isn't up yet. I mainly use it for my detail shots at weddings; does really good ring shots.

I have the Canon 100mm macro lense and love it. Here are a few of the pictures I took with it.

awesome details , that is what i want to get out of my shots guess i better save for that L-series canon macro lense . do you think it will come down from the 1000.00 dollar price tag it seems to command if so when another year from now or when their macro lense comes out lol..

I am fairly new to the world of DSLR, but I have found two things to stay true. Camera bodies seem to drop in price as new technology comes out but lenses seem to stay around their original price or go up in some cases. For instance I purchased the Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Autofocus on 03/17/2009 for a price of $469.95 today it costs $509.00. I did not purchase the L series lens at the time because I only wanted to use it for taking pictures of my fish tank. The rest of the the lenses I own are L series though. The price will probably stay around the $1000 you see and may even go up. Canon does however run a special on their lenses once or twice a year and you can save up to a few hundred depending on the lens you buy.
