Today I recieved my order of 100 live mysid from www.livemysid.com They arrived 100% alive and the horses just love them! Yummy! Bob was snicking at the bag and he was over there within seconds of the bag getting floated. I hope enough will survive to reproduce for a while.

I got to take a pic of the shrimp I have in my tank that look kinda like that and compare them to see if that's what I have. Very cool Jess, Your gona spoil them you know. What ever I have in my tank reproduces but there are places they can be without a character like Bob trying to eat them.

I have thousands of these little guys in my tank. The young ones swarm at night. Great Macro-shots. I would have loved to have seen them when I was trying to figure out what all those little shrimp like creatures were...

Great pics! Did you know that mysis can live as long as some gobies offered in the hobby?

Good luck with yours! You are doing a fine job caring for your horsies!

thanks Spike! everyone! It says on the website that the life expectancy is 5 months per generation, and the reproductive rate is 6 babies every 7-10 days per female. I sure hope there are some left out of that 100, I haven't seen any at all since the day I added them!
I'd like to get some more larger pods to add too for additional live food. I might have to get a bag of live brine this week just to be sure they're getting enuf to eat, yes I do enrich them first. :)

do you have a fuge for them to brees in? if not you may want to look into that!! I have heard of people using a strawberry basket in the back of the tank with rubble and sand all trapped under it so the little guys dont get eaten while trying to reproduce!! hth...

From what I have read ~ in the wild some males can live up to 2 years. Pretty cool for such a small animal.
