Just playing with my 18-55 VR I am taking it to Puerto Rico and I want to shot some close ups of criters! Tell me what you think?
I really want a 105mm but hope this lens will get me through the trip! I am also taking my tamron 70-300mm for some zoom shots.

Also, if there's a macro switch on the Tamron, try some shots with that. While they suck for taking tank pics, (partly because of the minimum focusing distance), it may be something else you can use.

That pic is pretty good though.

I think that lens (( 18-55 )) will get you through your trip, I used that lens on a hiking trip last summer, and was able to get some decent macro shots with it.

This dragonfly is about an inch and half long, if that.

This flower is about the size of a sliver dollar

And lastly this one is about the size of a quarter. I could have cropped it even close (( and still be the same size )) but, I wanted the background in it.

Yes, it is a VR lens, and all where hand held shots -- some after hiking way to far and thinking I was going to have a heart attack. ;)
