"Made in Germany"

I just got my Tunze Osmolator and didn't realize this was a German company. It really gives me a confidence boost to see "Made in Germany" on a product (like my ATI lights too). Almost as much as "Made in USA"!

Yes, the Tunze headquarters are in Germany - I think many large aquarium companies started out there. BTW that's why if you wanted to be 100% accurate you'd need to pronounce it somewhat like "toonzay"... But not even Tunze USA does that, lol.

I've heard the "toonzay" version on the BRS videos... how are the rest of us supposed to say it? Serious question...

I agree Tunze is a great company based in Germany. But there is also POS companies like Schuran. It pays to do your homework on what to buy and the products you should stay clear of.

I wouldn't worry too much about the correct pronunciation. Europeans are generally extremely forgiving when listening to us foreign-language challenged Americans speak their words. Heck I still pronounce Porsche the same way I did as a kid in the 80s... with one syllable. :spin1:

One great thing about Tunze is not just that everything is made in the one factory in Germany, but that everything is made practically from scratch there. Apart from the DC power supplies and the raw materials for some of the magnets, most Tunze products begin their lives as (very) raw materials at the Tunze factory. All plastic parts are molded there, even the motor coils are wound right there on site. This "If you want something done right, do it yourself" philosophy is one of the reasons German manufacturing has enjoyed its reputation for quality for so long.

Here's a picture of the factory if anyone is interested:

And if you follow this link there's a short behind-the-scenes look inside.

Have had my Tunze 6025's for almost over a year and half. They have performed wonderfully. Very happy with them.

After living in Europe for many years I would not advise that everything made in Germany is top-most quality based solely on the country of origin. I owned several German made appliances that were crap, and also owned some products made in China that were good quality. The old days of national manufacturing pride are unfortunetly behind us, corporatations now decide quality issues based on short term profit vs. using strong materials and more costly hand assembly. There are still some good companies out there in EVERY country, its just harder and harder to find them.

Use recommendations based on brand vs country.

Not all German products are quality,
Look at Aquamedic, German budget grade, most of the products are cheap looking and made in China,
