Mag 12, yay or nay?

Looking to put a Mag 12 in the sump as the return pump for my 120 with dual overflows. My thought was to split the return plumbing to go to both return. The overflows will handle 600 gph each, so I figured a pump that does 1200 at 0 ft will be just right at 4-5'. Anyone have any thoughts on the mag 12, or my thoughts on this setup? Thanks.

i run a mag 12 on my 75 with 35 sump

i have hangon overflow, 2 u-tubes, 1" drain

the mag 12 needs to be throttled back a bit

I still run one for my return, it is a quality pump, although not the best. It's efficiency isn't the greatest, therefore it runs a little warmer than some others and uses a little more wattage. Some people have complained about noise levels but I've never had a problem like that with mine. Mine's been run dry dozens of times and it's at least 6 years old too, and not even a sputter from it, runs great.

Nay for me. I had a mag 12 on my 90 and it worked well, but I would spend a little more money and get a Eheim or Ocean Runner. Both are very good pumps, both are much quieter than a mag and both use less watts (which equals less heat in the tank).
