Mag Drive as a heater

Holy cow. I used my extra Mag 24 to mix the salt for a water change. It's mixing 25 gallons in a trash can. This morning when I was checking salinity, I dropped the pipette in. When I grabbed it out, the water was HOT. I tested the temp, and it was 108 degrees! That's all from the Mag 24, no heater and the house is 68. No wonder my chiller runs so much!

Yeah they are hot, that's one of the reasons I decided to re-model the shop. One mag drive is OK but any more then that and you will cook a tank. I have ordered some much nicer ampmaster pumps.

I run the dolphin ampmaster 4700 and my temp has not changed form 79 even with the MH running

Yeah, I'm going to have to replace them with something. So, consequently, I'll be posting two barely used Mag 24's for sale soon.

Are either of them rated for the same flow as a Mag 24? (2400 gph no head) Wanna trade 2 Mag 24s even up?

Another thought you can run the mag 24 external. This should reduce the amount of heat distributed into the water.

Well, acording to the website, i't's not reccomended to use them external.

Seriously, I will trade 2 Mag 24s for 1 good pump. The mag 24s were $125 each new.

i have a mag24 now, and it hardly puts out any heat. it only raises my tank temp by one degree.
