Mag Drive pump making noise

The other day my mag drive pump started making "bad" noise. Is there any harm in leaving it run til I replace it. I didnt know if it could break and leak oil or something of the sorts. Obviously it needs replacement, but until then..........

It may have calcium deposits inside the mag drive section. It is a common problem. If you replace it, be sure to take it apart and inspect the interior. Likely some build up that a nice vinegar bath would take care of. Then you may just have a "hot spare".

BTW, if it is calcium, the pump can just quit when you least expect it. Beware

Check the intake. Sometimes the plastic pieces that hold the impeller break, leading to a rattle and unstable shaft. It'll still push water, but make a lot of racket. It shouldn't melt down in this situation. If that's not the noise, I'm afraid my info won't help much.
