Magellan007's 67gal Blog

I got mine from Dustin (zoanuts), but Aquariums in Edmond has also had them. Yes, they are poisonous; Dustin told me--not from personal experience--that the spines feel like a wasp sting. They're very peaceful fish, and also munch on hair algae and calurpa. I chose to get the one-spot due to its max size of 8", whereas the regular Lo gets to be 10" (I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, so...I like my fish happy.)

Hmmm, I didn't realize zoanuts had fish also. I see now on their site is reads "We specialize in Aquarium Corals, Fish and Invertebrates..."

I didn't realize about the different species and different sizes. Thanks for the info!! I think a one spot will be my choice as well since I only have a 75.

He doesn't keep fish in stock or anything, but if there's something in particular you want he'll order it.

Guess what! I finally figured out what I'd seen in my tank a few days ago... baby snails!! <3 It looks to be my turban snails; I'm so proud. So far I've counted three! =)

cool!!

I had an opportunity to meet Dustin and his wife [sorry I cant remember her name :( ] on the tank tour. Very nice, friendly and knowledgeable.

We just recently discovered the same thing, baby snails!! Actually, one of my kids noticed. We probably have about a dozen or so. I think I even spotted a baby crab...

talked w/adam and he said he's pretty sure my baby snails are stomatellas.. goodie!

i got home tonight and found that there was a cheesey spaghetti western about to go down in the tank between my jawfish and my banded goby. (jawfish has always had something against the goby; similar body type, plus he claimed the home i'd originally set up for the jawfish and he had fought for it when i'd put him into the tank, but he's smaller and only makes faces.)

ANYway, they were both bleach white! I've seen the jawfish do it to intimidate others, but I didn't know the goby could do it. Managed to take picatures of them:

(Magellan nipping at it, and biting off small pieces to help it split)

(just hangin' by a thread... right after I took the pic, Magellan bit the remaining connection and separated it.)

Sorry no pic of it fully apart cuz after that happened the lights went out and I did a water change. Both anemones are happy as can be, and I've moved one to the top by itself (now it's attached to the wall). Hopefully I can find someone who wants a rbta so I can get more stuff for my tank. =D

gah.. the new split moved itself beHIND the rockwork..but after turning on the lights this morning it looked as if it would stretch back under the rock to be visible from the front again. Cross your fingers for me!!

thanks~ Both splits are doing very well and already busy growing new tentacles--i see two new rows at least. =) The one on top is nicely inflated and out in full view--doesn't even retract at night. I'll see if I can take a picture of them both tonight for anyone who's interested.

I called them the other day just to see if they were getting anything in soon and she said an order was coming in Friday... So I don't know if that means they'll be in the tanks Friday or what, but I won't be able to make the trip until Saturday before the meeting or early next week. (busy weekend). I'll post what I get, don't worry. ;)

AND! As promised, here's a pic of what I got at Aquariums--just a couple of hours ago--with my winnings: a flourescent derasa clam!

derasa are so pretty.. this picture doesn't do it justice.

haha I think Mel and I were looking at that clam on Friday but I thought it said it was on hold so I didn't ask about it. Loved the iridescent's on it's mantel. Oh well, glad you guys got it, been shopping arround for awhile seeing if I could find a Ultra Grade Maxima or something similar that I really like. BTW thanks for making it to the baby shower!

ah, but there were two. ;) one was faced the other way, and i DID think to ask leighanne. hee~

you guys' family is too big! you could populate a whole town with just the people that were there.
