Magnesium Chloride Group Buy

Is this the stuff you put in your calcium reactor to buffer the Mag so it stays at a stable 1350'ish?

Good question Jeff,I think its the stuff you mix with water and Epsom salt to dose your tank to keep the magnesium up in your tank. Atleast that's the Randy's DIY reciepe I got off RC.

I tested mag in my tank and it was 1290 down from 1320,so I think I'm going to need to dose some pretty soon.

I thought I read that you want to use both to make Randy's DiY mag supplement.

I think its another question for Tom. I thought I also read there's some negative effect of using too much epsom salt,I think it puts Sulfites in the water so its better to use the two together mixed in water.

Jeff, yes epsom salt alone will do the job, but after a while it will build up some other element such as sulfate that might not be good for your aquarium in the long run so Randy farley came up with another receipe that uses mag flakes and less epsom salt.

Bob if you swap over to the IO and Kent mix of salt you shouldn't have to dose mag at all.

Mike, that is true for now, once your sps is packed, that combination still wont be able to keep up so suplement will be needed. The other solution is to throw some dolomite into the calcium reactor. Wonder if James can get us a big bag of dolomite ?

That sounds like a winner, just added it when you change your reactor media. I'm almost out of the ARM reactor media. When you guys are ready to do a group buy,let me know.
