Magnesium to kill Algae

Has any one tryed this cause I have turned my light off for a hole month and it killed some but not all. it the worst kind of algae that you can get in your tank I was reading online and i tryed ever thing and no luck. any info on this will help me out a bunch and get my zoa tank back up and running like it should be :fish1:

I've killed off bryopsis by raising magnesium to 1500 with Kent, don't know why but only the Kent product worked; did nothing for other hair algae though.

I have hered the same thing if I try to use ESV it wont work I was told.

What kind of algae are you trying to get rid off? The older version of Kent tech M works for bryopsis but won't work for others. Also have read that the formula for Kent thech M has changed so whatever was in it that killed bryopsis is no longer in it.

bryopsis the worst kind but I was reading and I got this to see if it will work on my tank Vibrant For Reef Aquariums so ill see how this works :rollface:

I have also used Kent tech M raised to 1500 to kill off Bryopsis, but only the Kent worked for me. From what I was able to find out is there is a chemical in their formula that's kills it off. For hair algae sea hares and the large Mexican turbos ate it for me and most bacterial slimes like red Special Blend works well. I have also read that dosing hydrogen pryoxide kills most nuisance algaes, but never tried it ......all of these are just band aids because the cause is usually excessive nutriants which feeds them.

Agreed, tech M is the only one that works. But you have to get Mag up to 1500. Sea slug also work but like to get sucked into pumps.
