With the holiday weekend I thought I would tackle some tank chores. Started with changing all of my filters. Removed and cleaned the skimmer, cleaned and scraped the glass, purchased some turbo snails and a sand sifting star. The turbos to help with my turf algae and the sand sifter to help with the sand bed. Figured with a 7 1/2 year old tank there is enough life in the sandbed to support one for a while. Fragged a number of corals due to overcrowding and of course now have some unexpected frags also. Dipped a number of corals that looked a bit suspect to me,(being the nervous type), dipped 11 pieces and only 1 had anything come off of it and what I saw didn't look like flatworms but had to check having been through aefw in the recent past. Did a 20 gal water change. Mounted up 14 new frags of acros and zoas. Wired up the reefkeeper for the frag system and ran the cables.Plus had 12+our 5 for Easter dinner. All in all a good but busy weekend. :spin2:

Forgot, also went through half a bottle of aptasia X .Darn aptasia were taking off again. Its amazing how little time it takes for those B******s to get out of control. I think thats it ;)

Nice, Those aptasia grows faster than anything else. You can use kalk mixture heated in the microwave, it works just as good. My palys are growing out of control too.

I've been busy changing filters on my RO and installed dual 150 gal/day membranes. Next weekend I'll do a major water change and install my new pump. The yard work also needed attention too ... man I need help :)

Yep it sure can pile up, We have a gardener for outside so I get out of that one  but I make up for it with my rentals plus the showroom doesn't leave much time for anything else.

How is the Tek fixture working for you in the frag tank? I know you had expressed some reservation about keeping the color of your frags when we had the meeting at your place.

Also, what bulb combo are you running? It looked like a Blue+, AquaBlue, Purple+, Blue+ (these are the ATI bulb names) setup? Do you like it?

Hey Ben, Still havn't added water to the frag tank but the bulbs are Geissman and the configuration is as you remember. I'll let you know as time goes by and I have time to do the acyrlic work needed prior to starting the little beast. Still hoping I can retain the color, but I may need to add a small halide to the mix. I'm looking forward to starting it up as it will allow me to remove a lot of not so compatible corals from my DT like the big candycane, frogspawn and the hammer that has been living in my sump lol

Baffling the sump, another sock holder, lids for the tanks, splash shields for the rear and sides of the sump and maybe an overflow for the tank with a weir at the top which I prefer to a standpipe as it is currently.
