Maintenance question for you BB SPS reefers

I am only 2 or 3 weeks into my barebottom setup....But ill tell ya anyway..

I used some hatian rock as the support for my fiji rock to keep minimal contact on the starboard, my fish love the caves it makes. Its hard to stack over 100lbs of rock with at little contact as possible, but do they best you can.

Generally I do weekly water changes about 30 gallons.

I start by blasting the rocks then siphoning the bottom where it piles up, Im upping my flow alot more this week so hopefully I wont have to siphon as much. I also clean my skimmer during all this.

The neck and collection cub get a clean every 2 days or so.

Right now I am fighting nitrates so I have been doing a 25 gallon change every 24 hours....not sure why its not going down either.

What are your trates?

What other tricks do you guys recommend?

I cut Ã"šÃ‚¼Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚ and Ã"šÃ‚½Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚ pieces of pvc from various sizes (1/2ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚, 1ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ 1 Ã"šÃ‚½Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚, etc) and placed all my LR on top of that. Once a week or so, I blow off the LR, with part of the detritus going to my overflow into a filter sock and the rest I suction out. I only run the filter sock on the day I blow off my tank.

great advice.. keep it coming guys...yah, I know its hard to have hundreds of lbs of LR using minimum contact points... but I really like my idea with the fiberglass rods... I think it will allow me to stack lots of live rock into towers, and then I could connect these towers and make some really sweet aquascapes....
